Barred Owl

This is a small piece of a Barred Owl that was just completed for an exhibition that will open a little later this year.  I had originally made the painting 5×7 in, but decided later to give a little extra space around the bird and finish it as a 6×8 instead.  Much more pleased with the look of it that way.

    Love those cute eyes!

  2. Very good work Rebecca, and the very fine feathers makes for such a soft texture. I have painted the barred owl too and this is a very big challenge to capture the finite details. I love watetcolors too, I do paint in oils, yet recent work with aqua bord, and some special coating over the aqua bord using marble dust makes a superior watercolor surface. I have been painting the red rock of Sedona, and that is challenging. Have a good day.
