Since that time, she has taught herself to utilize the talent given to her and, in addition to a biology degree, she has studied with a number of prominent contemporary artists. Developing her own style through many hours of study of techniques and creating those of her own, Karen has continually worked to improve her art. &#8220;The best artist never stops learning.&#8221;, Karen says. &#8220;There is always some way to better your art. You must keep an open mind and be willing to change your work as needed. Many pieces keep evolving as they progress and end up quite the learning experience.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Karen has won numerous awards and exhibits extensively in the United States and England. She has raised thousands of dollars for wildlife and environmental conservation through her paintings and artwork. In sharing the special magic of wildlife and nature in her paintings, Karen hopes to help the viewer to better appreciate the natural world around them.<\/p>\n<p>Karen is a member of (MIWAS) Marwell International Wildlife Art Society (England\/UK\/Europe), (TWASI) The Wildlife Art Society International (England\/UK\/Australia\/Italy\/Europe), and is a signature member of the (SAA) Society of Animal Artists (USA\/New York) as well as several international miniature art societies.<\/p>\n<p>Her work has been shown at numerous art exhibitions including:<\/p>\n<div align=\"left\">\nArts for the Parks (Mini 100 Region 1 winner in 2004 |People&#8217;s Choice Top 100 &amp; Mini 100 in 2005),<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">Art and the Animal 44th Annual SAA Members&#8217; Exhibition, Hiram Blauvelt Museum (Award of Excellence 2004),<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">Birds in Art,<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">Easton Waterfowl Festival,<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">NatureWorks Art Show &amp; Sale,<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">American Art in Miniature &#8211; Thomas Gilcrease Museum,<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">Florida Wildlife Exposition,<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">The Marwell Wildlife Art Exhibition, Marwell Zoo &#8211; UK<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">The Wildlife Art Society International&#8217;s (TWASI) Annual International Exhibition (UK) &#8211; The International Award 2007,<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">Southern Wildlife Festival,<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">Federal Duck Stamp Top 20 National Tour (multiple years),<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">Kentucky National Wildlife Art Exhibit (2004 Best of Show),<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">Bennington Center for the Arts&#8217; Art of the Animal Kingdom,<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">Whistle Pik Galleries&#8217; Christmas Miniature Show,<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">Miller Gallery&#8217;s&#8217; Objects of Desire Miniature Exhibition,<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">Galleries West Fine Art&#8217;s (Jackson Hole, Wyoming) Fall Roundup and Natural Inspirations &#8211; a three artist show featuring Karen and her daughters as well as their miniature art exhibition Little Jewels,<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">Horizon Fine Art Gallery&#8217;s (Jackson Hole, Wyoming) It&#8217;s A Small World and several three artist shows featuring Karen and her daughters,<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">Decoys &amp; Wildlife Gallery&#8217;s (Frenchtown, New Jersey &#8211; near NYC) Fall Show &amp; Shoot (Guest Artist) and featured artists in invitational show in October 2007.<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">\u00c2<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">Karen has also shown her paintings in several international miniature art exhibitions including:<br \/>\nThe British Society of Miniaturists Summer Exhibition (Awarded the Polymers Plus Prize &#8211; Runner-up), The Papermill International Miniature Art Exhibition in New Jersey, the Royal Miniature Society (RMPSGS-UK) and a number of others.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Beginning at the age of 10, Karen realized that she had a very special artistic gift.
