{"id":1346,"date":"2010-10-15T03:23:15","date_gmt":"2010-10-15T09:23:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lathamstudios.com\/rebeccasblog\/blog\/?p=1346"},"modified":"2010-10-15T03:23:15","modified_gmt":"2010-10-15T09:23:15","slug":"busy-art-summer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lathamstudios.com\/rebecca\/2010\/10\/busy-art-summer\/","title":{"rendered":"A Busy Art-Filled Summer"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<div>A  very busy summer!\u00a0 This year has been amazing&#8230; Time in the studio has  been more productive than in any previous years, I have been very  blessed to be represented by so many quality galleries around the  country, and I have had the invitations and available work to be a part  of more exhibitions as well.\u00a0 And so&#8230; a long-overdue update&#8230;\u00a0 (If  you aren&#8217;t already connected on Facebook, you can check out <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/rebeccalathamart?v=wall\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Rebecca&#8217;s Facebook Page<\/a> for additional updates and conversation!)<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8220;Refugees  &#8211; Orangutans&#8221; was selected for the Society of Animal Artists 50th  Anniversary exhibition in San Diego, California this Sept and is on  exhibit at the  San Diego Museum of Natural History.\u00a0 It will also be a  part of the  Encore exhibition being hosted by the Wildlife Experience  Museum in  Denver November 20, 2010 &#8211; February 21, 2011.<\/p>\n<p>In  addition to those two beautiful venues, I was delighted that the SAA  tour director, David J Wagner, selected the work to continue on the  National tour to the Dunnegan Gallery of Art March 13 &#8211; April 10, 2011  in Bolivar, MO and the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History  April 30 &#8211; September 5, 2011 on the campus of the University of  Oklahoma, Norman, OK.\u00a0 Several of my artist-friends attending the  Society&#8217;s events in California also mentioned that the &#8220;Refugees&#8221; was  one of two pieces to be purchased at the opening.<\/p>\n<p>In September, my family and I attended our back-to-back Family shows in MT and WY.\u00a0 Many thanks to Stacey and Janene at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moosehorngallery.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Moose Horn Gallery in Livingston, Montana<\/a> (pictured above during the opening) for putting on a beautiful show and the inspirational spot along the Yellowstone River.<\/p>\n<p>Our week long show at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.raindancegallery.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Raindance Gallery in Jackson Hole Wyoming<\/a> (Our first Featured show held in conjunction with the Jackson Fall Arts  Festival) was the largest collection of paintings shown in one exhibit  to date &#8211; nearly 60.\u00a0 We also had the opportunity to spend our mornings  tracking moose and spotting other wildlife as well as visiting the newly  formed Teton Raptor Center and a hike into the Black Canyon wilderness.  (Bonnie Latham seated in front of one wall of the Raindance Gallery  display)<\/p>\n<p>Early October marked the\u00a0opening of our 3rd Featured show for the year with an exhibition at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kelleygalleries.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Kelley Galleries in Hudson, Wisconsin<\/a> (The event is still on show if you are in the area).<\/p>\n<p>Their  Woodbury, Minnesota gallery location is hosting their annual Miniature  Art Show on display October 11th-24th as well (Opening reception is the  15th 5-7pm)\u00a0 Many thanks to Barb from Hudson (pictured) and Kyle from  the Woodbury Gallery for putting on these beautiful events!<\/p>\n<p>In Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesnowgoosegallery.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Snowgoose Gallery<\/a> is hosting a  The Breast Cancer Research Foundation benefit show of New  Works by gallery artists going on now through the end of the month.\u00a0 (I  am just putting the finishing touches on a brand new piece for their  Closing Reception events)<\/p>\n<p>Looking forward to late Autumn and  early Winter&#8230;.
