Copycats Copy

I was just notified by a friend of mine that one of my watercolor paintings that I created last year, "Mist – Mute Swan" (pictured left), has been copied, plagiarized, by another artist.

I find it very, very sad that a professional painter (who would know better) would choose to be so uncreative as to copy another artist’s work and ideas — not to mention the kind of role model a person like this is being to the next generation.  I am very disappointed and disgusted that we live in a world where adults behave in such an embarrassing manner.

Plagiarization of an individuals work is an absolute cardinal sin. I have every sympathy for you.

    Kind regards.

Lovely painting! So sorry you ran into this problem. I agree with your remarks, but it is no surprise considering all the other things human beings routinely do to each other. I suggest you take whatever action is appropriate in the situation and keep painting! That is all any of us can do.

And despite all the despicable acts out there, we can also find wondrous ones.

Seems like a compliment, to me.

Dont think the copy is as nice as yours! What an impressive one!

Still people have no own creative mind, i would not mind people get inspired by a painting(thats just a compliment I think), but making an almost same one is not nice. Everyone has a own style And i think they have to develop their own, And not by copy anothers work!

I won’t spent that much effort to it and go on painting!

What must that do to his reputation? It should be a shameful thing for a professional painter to have on his record.
