Being in the mood for painting a lot of fur, this is the beginnings of a 24in x 36in grizzly bear with the sepia watercolor under painting nearly in place. The rich glazes of browns in the painting are going to be very nice to put in I think. …quite a bit of work involved for this piece, being that I still put in the detail of my other miniature works in spite of this size, but I believe the effects will be worth all of the effort.
I'm loving this one, Rebecca, and can't wait to see it's progress.

Thanks :)
So you do large works as well…must require a lot more "backing off" to get the total impression as the work progresses. Of course, since a large work can also be appreciated at a greater distance when it's finished, I can see the advantage of it.
Are these boards you are using hardboard panels, or some sort of illustration board?
I prefer hotpress illustration board. ..esp in the way it handles the absorption of the watercolor. Yes, in working you have to back away to see the entire impression…or use a reducing glass.
Really great, it shows beauty, scale and power all in one.
Thank you for ability to watch your gift in progress. Have seen some of your finished pieces . There are no words to decribe what you have captured . Only to say your gift is wonderful.!!! Zoe
The bear is just gorgeous, I think that you are really a gifted artist!
This will be gorgeous! You are so brave… After working on miniatures that fit in my palm, I think this size would seem so daunting…. Looking forward to seeing it completed!
I like it already. I know it's a lot of work there for the fur. I think that's the reason I don't start to do animals or birds. You have to have a lot of patience. Thank you for sharing. Art in progress is always interesting to follow . Monica
Beautifully talented Rebecca. Have you ever done requests?
Thank you, John. I do commissions when scheduling allows, yes.
