Barn Owl – Finished Work

Looking Back – Barn Owl, 4.75in x 3.25in, watercolor on board, ©Rebecca Latham

This is the final scan of the Barn Owl piece I was working on recently.  I enjoy painting this species of owl.. their layers of white feathers always an effort, but so beautiful.  I was pleased with how the dark backdrop and color rich glazes of sienna and gold brought strength to this piece.

This owl picture is my Facebook picture, profile pic for everything else and EVEN MY CUSTOM PHONE CASE! You made it realistic yet unrealistic to give it that golden glowing shine and that personality. It is just perfect! I cannot name one single painting or even real life photograph of a barn owl that can even come close to this! Feel free to friend me on Facebook.

I zoomed in as far as my phone would allow and I still saw detail in that eye, how did you do those kind of dust like spots on the eyes?
