Silence – Barred Owl, 8in x 10in, watercolor on board, ©Rebecca Latham
This is a recent painting of a barred owl I completed. It has a cooler background that I thought contrasted nicely with the warm golden browns of the feathers and yellow tones in it’s beak.
I’ve included both the sepia snapshot as well as the finished work so both can be compared directly. I sometimes like the sepia phase as it is… it has a different look than the full color.. but the strength of the single-color painting is rather intriguing. ..I can very rarely make myself stop at that point, however….

Hi Rebecca — Fantastic work — great capture of the eye looking at the world as an owl needs to do.
That’s one of the most beautiful things I’ve seen done in watercolor. You have such an amazing talent.
