Robert Paul Galleries in Stowe, Vermont

My family and I are now represented by the Robert Paul Galleries (http://www.robertpaulgalleries.com) in beautiful Stowe, Vermont.  If you have plans to be visiting the area for a bit or happen to be located nearby, please drop in and see them!  (..and tell them I said hi.. :D )

They will be showing a larger collection of our original paintings in the near future as well.

Deep Pink – Iris Painting

This is the third floral painting I’ve completed recently.  I think I should start a few more…

This is another painting that was inspired from the Minnesota Arboretum.  I loved touring the grounds there.

In the evening during our last visit (last spring), there was a group of plein aire oil painters setting up to work.  Some of them had half of the gardens painted  on their canvases by the time I was leaving the grounds.  It would have been quite an experience to have joined them. :D

Little Rabbit

This is a little rabbit painting that was finished recently – watercolor on board (approx. 6×6).  It is currently on display at Moosehorn Gallery in Livingston, Montana.

The studio remains busy with dozens of paintings in the final stages that will hopefully be completed soon. :D

Waterlily Miniature Painting

This is another one of my floral pieces that were just completed – a waterlily from sunken aquatic garden at the conservatory in Saint Paul that I visit occasionally.  This was a very fun piece to paint.  The cupped shaped petals, glowing pink in the depths of the blossom from the sun streaming down, and intense golden center…all set off by accents of blue reflected from the clear sky.  Simply beautiful. …and had to be painted. :)

The painting is 5×7, watercolor on board (and painted in miniature of course).

Wolf Puppies on the Easel

This is the progress on the little wolf puppy painting (9×12, watercolor on board).  It should be finishing up soon.

A Spring Garden’s Inspiration

This is one of a collection of flower paintings that were just completed.  This piece was inspired from a visit to the Minnesota Arboretum while their iris gardens were in full bloom last spring.  They were just beautiful (not to mention their poppies! …but that will have to be another painting… ;) ).  I had never seen so many varieties in one place – it was fantastic!

This painting is 5×7, “Garden Pearl” – watercolor on board.

Cheering the Studio – Wolf Puppies, etc.

Living in the land of 10,000 frozen lakes, I spend quite a bit of time painting in my studio in the winters.  But lately, it seems to be especially gloomy.  So, as I twittered earlier this week, I started on a new cheery, sunny painting of wolf puppies to brighten up my studio.  (When the snow isn’t scheduled to melt for at least several months, we do what we can.. ;) )

This is a detail scan of one of the wolf puppies in the new painting (sepia stage of painting).  I loved the expression.  I spent several hours with their litter – watching them run and play until they wore themselves out and were ready for naps.  ..and I was lucky enough to hold one of them for a bit too.  The puppy painting has just a little more to go before it’s completed… mostly grass-work left to do.

In addition to the spring puppies, I have a collection of spring flowers that should be fit to leave the easel very soon.  So more to come!
