Exiting Jackson & Photoshoot

This morning we ran around downtown a little bit.  I visited my painting at Trailside Galleries — I am participating in the Paco Young benefit exhibition being held there this month.  I was delighted to hear my painting was purchased this morning by a client from town!  Please visit Paco’s website for information about various fundraisers and how he is doing (www.pacofriendsforlife.com).  And, of course, we had to drop by our galleries (www.gallerieswestjacksonhole.com) to say our goodbyes before leaving — at least until next month :).

Throughout the rest of the day we had a series of mini photoshoots in the National Elk Refuge, Grand Teton National Park, and Yellowstone National Park (where we encountered a rain/snow/hail storm that dropped the temperature by 20 degrees and gave us a beautiful double rainbow!!). :)  It’s always so beautiful out here!  I can’t wait to start some more paintings!!

Painting Late

I have been painting a bit this evening.  I am working on my coyote painting again ("Morning Shadows").  I don’t think I will be able to finish it up before we have to return home.  Oh well.  It’s a pretty envolved painting — I don’t want to rush through the piece, so I guess I’ll just finish it when I get back in the studio.

Playing Hookie…

Creek in Jackson Hole, WyomingI’ve taken a little break this morning — watching some of the wildlife along a creek near where we’re staying here in Jackson.  There are some ducklings that have been swimming up and down the creek diving for lunch.

I feel so spoiled!!  :)  It’s such a treat to relax like this and observe so many great subjects to paint!

Coyote Painting in Jackson

Coyote painting in progress by Rebecca LathamI have been working all day in the gallery (Galleries West Fine Art) painting on my coyote painting.  I think it’s starting to, well, look finished.   I am trying to get the piece finished before we leave Jackson — we’ll see how fast I can paint!!   (I’ll be working on the painting in my hotel/studio also.)

Thanks to all of the visitors that have been dropping by the gallery with such nice comments!! :)  (…and thanks to our gallery for everything!!)

Galleries West Artist Reception

Today Galleries West hosted our artist reception at their Glenwood gallery.  I’t really been a great week — a number of my paintings, even some large ones, have found new homes!

I will be taking a break from painting in the gallery (to prevent becoming a starving artist), and then return to paint in the gallery this evening.  Hope to see you there!!  :)

Painting New Paintings – Horses & Coyote

Following Mom -- Painting by Rebecca LathamI have just about finished my horse and foal painting as you can see by the image posted left.  It’s an 8×16 sized painting.  I will be framing it up for our show reception tomorrow at Galleries West in Jackson Hole, WY  :)  (www.gallerieswestjacksonhole.com).

I have been painting my coyote painting in the gallery today.  It’s come along fairly well — I have been fine tuning some of the shapes of the boulders and such.

More Painting

We met so many sweet people who dropped by the gallery today!!  :)  In Jackson, there are visitors from all over the globe, so you never know who you’ll meet!  I don’t think we’ve ever had so much fun during one of our shows in town! (Actually, our new gallery can be blamed for that — Thanks guys!!  You’re the best!! )

I painted quite a bit on my painting today.  I’ll try to get another photo up on the blog a little later.

Never a Dull Moment…

Today was an eventful day in Jackson.  Later in the day the entire city lost power — even some of the cell phones went out for a while.  Luckily, I did get a bit done on my painting before this happened! :)  With no electric, it did make me (and everyone else) take a break for a while.

In-Gallery Painting

Latham Family Art Exhibition at Galleries West Fine Art in Jackson Hole, Wyoming -- Glenwood LocationMy family and I are in Jackson Hole, Wyoming for our show at Galleries West Fine Art.  We scheduled to be painting in the gallery from 1-5pm every day during the exhibit.   This is the first day of our "painting sessions".  I just started a painting of wild horses this afternoon — a mother and foal walking through sage brush.  It’s going well so far.  :)

I’ve been painting a bit more than I often do — trying to get a few extra pieces finished :) (so I haven’t been getting a whole lot of sleep lately).

Bison Painting

Bison Painting by Rebecca LathamI am just about finished with my new bison painting.  I have been working on the piece on the way to our show in Jackson, WY. :)
