National Museum of Wildlife Art Events

Today we attended the Wyoming Junior Duck Stamp ceremony, and earlier we gave a workshop for some of the winning students at the National Museum of Wildlife Art (www.wildlifeart.org).  It’s so exciting to see these young artists doing so well — some of their work is just amazing.  They are very talented kids.  I hope they all continue in the future.  Thanks to Jane Lavino for her hard work in setting up the event!!

We also just dropped off some fresh work at Galleries West Fine Art in Jackson (www.gallerieswestjacksonhole.com).  I have six new pieces.

Painting in Jackson Hole

Rebecca's hotel We just got into Jackson today.  I set up a "studio" in my hotel room.  I actually got quite a bit done on the painting (16×20 fox painting) tonight.  I hope to have the painting finished soon — it’s coming along pretty well.

Our gallery (Galleries West Fine Art – Jackson Hole — www.gallerieswestjacksonhole.com) is hosting the National Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters (www.rmpap.com) exhibition.  We went to the reception and awards presentation for the show tonight.  As you can see (pictured below), it was very busy! :)

Art on the Road

Wyoming sunset

This is a photo of tonight’s beautiful sunset.  We, of course, shot lots of pictures we plan to paint.  Very inspiring!! :)

I have just started a few new pieces (in the car, on the road) — one is half complete and two others are sketched.  The roads haven’t been too difficult to work (paint) on.

My Great Escape

I am escaping from my studio, sort of.  I am about to make a quick trip out west.  The artists in my family will be cunducting a workshop for young painters at the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson Hole, Wyoming through the Wyoming Junior Duck Stamp program.

While I’m out in such beautiful surroundings, I plan to gather more fresh reference in the Yellowstone area during the trip.  I am also bringing along plenty of supplies, so hopefully I will be able to get more work done as well.

New Wolf Pup Painting

Rebecca's new wolf pup paintingI just finished this new miniature piece of a young gray wolf.  It’s taken me about 2 to 2-1/2 days to finish the painting.  The painting will be available for purchase through our gallery in Jackson Hole, Wyoming — Galleries West Fine Art (www.gallerieswestjacksonhole.com).

Arts for the Parks

Rebecca Latham's new Great Egret Painting.I just sent off artwork to the Arts for the Parks exhibit in Jackson Hole, Wyoming (www.artsfortheparks.com).  It’s a slightly different subject for me.  I really enjoyed painting the foliage around the bird. :)

Hummingbird Painting Finished

Rebecca's new hummingbird & paintbrush blossoms miniature paintingI just finished this new hummingbird and Indian Paintbrush painting.  I am finishing up on a number of new pieces to give some of my galleries a new selection — this one will go to Galleries West Fine Art in Jackson Hole, WY (www.gallerieswestjacksonhole.com).   Stop in if you’re in the area.

I saw this hummingbird earlier this year while we were studying in Arizona.  I thought it would look stunning next to an Indian Paintbrush blossom.

Fox Painting

I am starting a new red fox painting today (a requested piece) for one of our galleries in the East.  I will post a photo of it soon.

Busy

I’ve been busy painting as usual.  :)  I will be getting some more images of paintings online soon! ;)

Art Barbarians Gallery Spring Cruise

QuickDrawArtBarbariansCruis.jpgThanks to everyone at Art Barbarians Wildlife Gallery in Rogers, MN (www.artbarbarians.com) for their hard work putting together the annual cruise on the Saint Croix River.

I painted a new 8×10 "quick draw" piece of a Barred Owl from scratch during the 3 hr. cruise (pictured right).  The gallery plans to have an auction or raffle for the painting.  Please contact them if you’re interested in participating!
